I recently visited my nephew in Canberra. He was yelling “Uncle Matt, Uncle Matt, come play with me!”
I protested “I don’t know this game – you go ahead, Ill watch you.”
And then he said “Cmon, it’s easy, Ill show you.”
Then he shot a few bad guys when they popped up on the screen. I was still resisting.. so he started to plead “Cmon! Cmon! Please! Please!”
I gave in.
Then he says the simple words that tell you that you are being set up & this is not going to end well “you go first.”
So you decide to make it happen. You are going to show this kid who is boss!
And then BOOM!
In 2 seconds you are dead. Shot in the head from a bad guy you did not even see. Absolutely smoked. Your nephew laughs at you and takes the control back – “my turn.”
He goes bang! Bang! Bang! The bad guys are dropping like flies as he continues to whizz around every corner.
About 50 mins later, I get my second turn.
I’m pissed off now and even more determined to win & show my nephew who is the boss! This time I last a full 10 seconds. And then he goes for another 50 mins. You know the drill.
So why do kids always win? Is it because they have better reflexes? Is it because they are faster? NO!
